Our Capitol is surrounded by a military presence. I think America is sending a pretty strong message about whose protests they will allow and whose they won't. Thing about protests, though, in America we're supposed to allow all of them.
The West squandered the last ten years making fatuous criticisms of Aung San Suu Kyi based on an ill-informed, reductive, and reflexively Islamophilic reading of the Bengali Muslim (supposed "Rohinga") situation. Now that the generals are back, her critics will reap what they've sown.
