Let me put it a slightly different way. There are some ideas that are so ridiculous that only rich and comfortable people can afford to have them.

This was an excellent discussion, thanks! This was my first time even hearing of Mr. Henderson, I will certainly pay attention if his work appears again in my future.

Great interview. It was fortunate timing as I was listening to "Freddie Sayers meets Katharine Birbalsingh, 'Britain's strictest headteacher'." which had some interesting developmental pysch overlap. It wasnt the point of the interview, but its one of the elephants in the room so to speak. As a Gen-X'r who went to a "working class private school" in Canada (tuition was $350 a year in the 80s-- cheap enough for most to afford, expensive enough to attract only parents who wanted their kids there), I really wonder where the discussion of structure has gone to. I dont have school age kids, but following the local coverage the only acceptable lens is "student focused" and "empowering the student" which I understand where it came from. I certainly dont want to go back to the days of physical violence. But when poorly implemented (which seems to be the typical case) it just means letting kids do whatever they want.... And that doesnt not lead to good places either.
