While it's probably true that it's a vocal minority pushing the fat-is-healthy idea, the point is they *are* vocal, and they *do* persuade people. More importantly, many people will know someone like this in their family or friend group, who pushes this idea. To me the letter writer clearly needed to know a few good points to make, and how to make them, with someone like this. The letter writer wanted some completely incontestable data to cite. So the answer was not helpful, much as I enjoyed the last sentence.
