Oh geesh, the brain-dead fatalism is really hard to take. As Obama said "elections have consequences". The criticism over a new president elect selecting loyal people to his administration is really quite fantastic... so you think he needs to pick disloyal people? Like the Democrat and Uniparty plants from 2016?
And "reckless"... geesh... these people have not even had the chance to perform yet. Talk about reckless... you Democrats protecting the vegetable in office, and then dismissing the election process of the primaries select a full blown unpopular idiot to replace him. With both of them having a 100% ACTUAL track record of reckless policies that the people hated and wanted gone.
You know what I think?... F**k the continued media resistance. Really. This is the behavior that helped seal the win for Trump and the Republicans... the divisive hypocritical whining from the upper class left that throws a perpetual tantrum because they are not in complete power and control as the professional scolds of the world.
Why does this Substack call itself Persuasion? Perhaps you are trying to persuade yourselves of your thoroughly rejected politics. You definitely won't persuade any of the millions of Americans who have woke up to their anti-American idiocy. Nearly every day, for example, there are admissions that COVID policies were shortsighted and that COVID vaccines are dangerous and ineffective. There are more and more people who question DEI.
All of your criticisms of Trump appointees are based on your opposition to Trump policies which Trump vocally supports and Harris just as vocally opposes. And Trump was voted for my millions more Americans than voted for Harris. Of course he nominated people who agree with him. Even the mentally challenged Biden selected people who agreed with him.
The problem is not with Trump and the millions who voted for him; the problem is that you won't accept the fact he and his politics won and Harris and her politics were rejected. Sour grapes won't persuade anyone.
indeed. Going forward and I’m saying this is a moderate Democrat who voted for Trump, I just asked Democrats to just shut their mouth every time TDS enters the picture and just think about how they can rebuild the Democrat party. Someone hits me with TDS? I’m just gonna reply that we actually need to focus on rebuilding the Democrat Party and building some kind of a deep bench of candidates. I mean, who do we have? No one. Republicans have limitless numbers of people as far as I can tell. 20 years worth at least. That’s plenty of time for the Democrats to get their act together if they’re interested in doing that.
I don't like either party, but the way they have rigged elections for many years, a third party or independent can't get any airtime, even for a rigged "debate." So no one who has a brain even tries to run. Trump or some of his hired hands know hat buttons to push, and he has enough of his own money to get him around the gatekeepers in the Republican party so he doesn't have to try a third party.
There's a ton of money in politics to attract the scum we usually get stuck with, so I don't expect much quality in government. And not enough people are interested in learning much about our constitutional republic to force improvement. I voted for Trump, but my motivation was to avoid a continuation of the disastrous policies the current Democrat administration that Harris would have brought about.
I have a sliver of hope that Trump will bring about some of the change he campaigned on. But he didn't talk much about a cleanup of the Republican party, which needs to be done as much as a reversal of the Biden mess. If that does not begin to happen, whatever good he does will be short-lived.
Sorry, Rubio, Waltz, and Stefanik are only "good" in comparison with the rest of the occupants of the clown car. They'll be ready to shiv Ukraine as soon as Trump gives the word, without hesitation. If Trump and Kim "fall in love" again, they're all ready to be groomsmen and bridesmaid. I can't think of a single issue on which any of them will oppose Trump on principle, or resign: they HAVE no principles. And as for them offering "pushback if Trump decides to go the route of a 'deal' with China", the idea of being Xi's friend makes Trump wet his Depends. Everybody knows that, Xi most of all. The closest they'll come to pushback if Xi starts saying nice things to him is "YESSIR!"
Oh, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if the new Republican Senate refuses to confirm ANY of these nominees.
"public figures not known for radical rhetoric or for trafficking in dangerous conspiracy theories"? -- not correct re Stefanik, who has promoted the Great Replacement Theory, a conspiracy theory based on antisemitism that motivated the synagogue shooter in Pittsburgh. As for Rubio, several times in recent years he has faced the choice of sticking to his principles or caving to Trump, and he has caved every time. We should expect he will carry out Trump's wishes, even when they go against his previously stated views.
After Gaetz and Gabbard and Kennedy, nobody's going to have the energy left to oppose Hegseth. So if Trump wants to use the military against civilians, he couldn't ask for a Defense Secretary who's more enthusiastic about it. Maybe that was the plan?

My thoughts, exactly.
