A cogent and interesting summary of where we find ourselves with President Trump and his administration. However, for those of us who are very concerned about where this constitutional democratic republic is heading, there is no call to action and no recommendations for turning things around. It's like going to a medical specialist and being told that you have a disease that is incurable with symptoms that are untreatable.
It's interesting how all the liberal critics of Trump are so very very certain that he is somehow uniquely immoral and so very morally inferior to any democrat politician past or present. I certainly don't like the war mongering that Trump is doing- which is the opposite of the America first foreign policy he campaigned on.
Yanis Varoufakis makes the case, along with John Meirsheimer and others, that imperialism, regime change and foreign meddling is what the US has always done. ( Ukraine being another example). Trump is just more honest about it than his predecessors. Funny that the author mentions Saddam Hussein as an example of a bad guy. The US didn't exactly cover itself in moral glory with the Iraq War. Read the book "Legacy of Ashes" by NY Times reporter. The CIA has done over forty regime change operations around the world. Usually covertly.
Ms. Williams, I have read A Legacy of Ashes and learned of the many times that the CIA, under the Dulles boys, did things that were immoral. That sort of CIA activity continues well past the Dulles regime. However, to conflate those incidences with armed federal agents, wearing no identification and masked, pulling citizens from cars on American streets and shooting them is more than preposterous. Your apologist attitude toward the current administration indicates to me that you’re part of the problem. The defining characteristic of the current administration is one of abject indecency and the belief that justice requires revenge. How very tribal.
"Pulling American Citizens from cars". Well isnt that just a complete and honest representation of the actual facts? Hyperbole much? How about "pulling people obstructing law enforcement from cars?"
If we are going to talk morality, look in the mirror for participating in intellectual dishonesty.
Yes, those previous politicians were hypocrites. but hypocrisy is (partly) good! The hypocrite is aware (or can be made aware of) their failings. Contrast that with those who have no concept of morality, maybe they are more rational? But where does it lead?
see Victor Frankl "Viktor Frankl on Why Idealists Are Real Realists" on youtube for an explanation.
and each operation ended with disasters; plus no one could ever say that aloud in public lest one be damned right then and there! Results of such ignoramus flag waving are quite visible these days of infamy. with no remedy in sight nor in mind! If they know how to do water baptism en mass, they can find " impeachment en mass" as well. the population geedy with most most powerful nation most plentiful this & that now are mute dumb & deaf! LMAO
If Trump, or the presidency in general, gains control of the Federal Reserve, that's the end of American supremacy. Not immediately, but the dominos would be falling at that point. It wouldn't take long. It's hard to think of a more effective way to gift the world to China and Russia.
I could not cotinue after reading the first paragraph of this feminized hogwash Demo propaganda. Nothing so TDS heavy qualifies for any publication named "Persuasion".
The majority elected Trump to do a job. The Democrats are throwing a tantrum and every legal challenge with most failing along the way, but a few curtailing Trump actions. That is how the system is supposed to work.
Come on man, we experienced the near totalitarian power abuse of the collectivist Democrats under Biden. Other liberal countries like Denmark are going much further than Trump on immigration.
Democrats are consistently intellectually dishonest. They make Trump's embellishments twaddle by comparison.
pl cite Statutes that allow your kind of implementation of the laws which the goons are required to follow when elected by 50.2 % or even less- no matter. Staying excited for "good fellas" is not a permit for not showing civilized compliance of the Statutes. .. then again Persuasion may not be for all...

Morality anyone?

pl. can you cite the statutes that allow your honest grin at the abject brutality only Mobutu could carry out?
