responsibility is one thing. Strategic anticipation is another. The United States was once strategic. In the past. It is no longer the anticipatory, prepared democracy that it once was. The US is now the frightened turtle which has pulled its head back into its shell and pleads "please don't eat me". Putin, along with Trump, will eat us. And, unfortunately, the Ukrainians will be devoured as well. Ukraine may not be our responsibility but we do share common interests. It would be wise to engage with Ukranians and share what knowledge and power we still have. Ukranians are, after all, the drone-masters of the world. Through desperation, they know more about these things than we do and drones will be the weapons of war for the foreseeable future. And. there will be war. We had better keep them on our side.
The US has spent 6% of GDP protecting all these loser countries while they fattened up on access to US consumer markets, enacted tariffs to keep US companies from selling in their markets, while implementing lavish social spending for their people.
The US is not longer paying for their safety and security while getting taken advantage of. It is past time for the rest of the world to pull up their big boy pants and pay their own way for their own safety and security.
The US spoiled all the children of Europe and other countries. Made them soft girl-men that will never pick up a gun to fight for what the claim is needed. They expect the US to fight their wars for them while they also reserve the right to blast the US for being too war-like.
It is terrible, but it is not the responsibility of the US.
Of course it is. We signed the Budapest Memorandum, after persuading Ukraine to give up the Soviet nuclear weapons on its territory.
Things change. I am sure that is something you argue when it suits your politics.

Frankly, fuck all of them.
