But if we found out that the phone, not social media were the culprit, the bringer of mental distress, would anything change? As a trog who never got a phone I see the world through the eyes of the left behind. It's not pretty. The commitment to the tool that breaks apart human interaction is firm. The convenience is undeniable and the harm is palpable.
I appreciate this article. I remember when the reality show The Swan first came out. We discussed it in a Social Psych class I taught and the young women were horrified. (The contestants competed for who was the most beautiful post surgery.) That was about 2005. Probably the last generation not to be socialized on Botox & plastic surgery.
