And yet, are they all there to join the community or are many of them there for ulterior motives—e.g., prestige brand—and seeking not to join the great academic enterprise but to tear it down? I think a similar question holds for people who immigrate to America and then chant “Death to America.” They have the right to say it, because America has granted them that right, but can we not question their commitment to our national enterprise?
