"The result of all this is a national discourse that perpetually wallows in avenging past wrongs—real and constructed." Worth pondering about our own country as well.

Unfortunately Persuasion is perfectly in lockstep with the mainstream media in publishing anti-Modi stuff endlessly. I find it quite tiresome.

As far as I can tell, he seems to have a strong democratic mandate for the changes he wants to make. And even if he got everything he wanted, the position of religious minorities in India would still be a hundred times better than it is in Pakistan. But this context is always absent, which seems very dishonest to me.

What do you mean "mainstream media"? Most of such media in India is now defending BJP and promoting its agenda. And what democratic mandate are you writing about? RSS wants India to become more as Pakistan in practice as a authoritarian and theocratic state and country.

Mainstream US. I'm not consuming Indian media. And no one contests that Modi has broad support in India.

So what is the problem? Modi has broad support in India, true. Do you think that is good or bad? I think that Hindunationalists and their supporters are dangerous and horrible regarding what they want to achieve

It is not for me to say whether it is good or bad. They have a right to decide for themselves what kind of country they want.

You basically mean that you do not care what is happening in India but at the same time you are writing how "MSM" is wrong about Modi?

That is not at all what I said.

Are you kidding or? Who are they? Are you in support of democracy or dictatorship? If the BJP gets is whole agenda , it means that for example Muslims and Christians in India will not be able to influence and decide how India should be as a country.

The nature of real democracy is that large majorities have more power and influence than minorities. There is no point in debating what their whole agenda may or may not be, but if a large majority of the country wants India to be more of an explicitly Hindu enthno-national state, then the democratic thing is for that to happen.

How come that you are not presenting Persuasion as anti-national?

The behaviours of BJP, RSS and Modi fans in India are similar to the 1990s developments in former Yugoslavia. Same type of nationalist and mythological rhetoric leading to more poverty, hate and disintegration among people.
