On a walk in Berlin, Unter den Linden, I see a tank standing on the middle test strip of the street. The gun barrel pointed at the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The tank is surrounded by young people decorated with Ukrainian flags, who obviously think it's right and just as funny. The Berlin office of the European Parliament is appealing for help. for Ukraine. A small demonstration by a Berlin peace initiative is surrounded (I'm not exaggerating) by jeering youths who try to drown out acoustically the desire for an immediate ceasefire. Unlike you, my dear Sasha, I cannot find in the heroic resistance of the partisans of Val d'Orcia the slightest resemblance to the war that has been unleashed in Ukraine - sponsored, supported and led by the states of the North Atlantic Alliance. The voice of reason, the voice of philanthropy, speaks a different language: the weapons must be silenced immediately. Negotiations must take place. Weapons have the disgusting property of killing. And the killing must stop. Liebe Grüße aus Berlin!

Beautifully written. Thank you. For those who want to retain a sense of connection to the realities of the war, I recommend following Trent Talenko and Philllips P. O'Brien on Twitter. Telenko was a procurement/logistics specialist for the US military and writes often highly technical posts; O'Brien is a military historian. Their tweets are accompanied by tweets from various mostly Ukrainian sources, governmental and individual, that show the human side, and the cost, of the war. And then there's the inimitable Darth Putin.
