Ukraine should have grown up more before seeking alignment with the UK and Nato. It is unfortunate that the ghosts of communism and all its paranoia and justified insecurities continues to infect countries like Russia, but Ukrainian leaders did this... they knew better than to poke the bear and yet they did it anyway. They did it for their own greed. They did it before Ukraine could stand on its own against Russian opposition. And now the Ukrainian people suffer for it.

Jesus, man, have some moderation. There's a place for critiques of Ukraine, and it is AT A MINUMUM, after a "Geez, that really sucks, however, I think that…"

I don't wallow in my emotional reactions because it is basically a useless exercise. It does not mean that I don't feel the same sympathy.

Curious as to what, in your view, makes an expression of sympathy "useless" but a criticism of the Ukrainian government "useful" here.

You cannot fix the past, only the present and future. What does feeling sympathy do to help anyone now and in the future?

Exactly; surely a comment on this platform is much more likely to affect the emotions of people suffering now and in the future than to affect politicians' decisions in the future, let alone the past... Would you visit someone in the hospital after a devastating car accident to lament about automobile safety regulations?
