You folks are living in the past. In 1933, the US was a highly effective country and could help defeat Nazi Germany. What about now? My favorite line on this point is

“China is now very good at building dams. The US is now very good at enforcing PC. What country/system will dominate the 21st century?”

The Nazis also thought America was weak and decadent and amoral. So did the Communists. So did the Islamists. So did Putin, and what the Biden Administration has been doing to help Ukraine has been quite effective.

China has already passed the US in economic output. China is already ahead of the US in several areas of science. In time, China will lead in all areas. Ask the citizens of Hong Kong if effectiveness is relevant or not.

Yes. This conversation made me think the situation in China is especially dire, specifically the disastrous results of the one child policy which led to such a huge gender disparity. I'd add the caveat that this Zeihan character sounds like kind a real doom and gloom kinda guy. Still, I found the conversation fascinating.
