According to the Times https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/19/opinion/politics/new-york-city-homicide.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage murders in NYC have risen by nearly 50% and shootings by nearly 100%. And some of this is for the very reasons articulated by Dr. Loury. At some point we must recognize that BLM is no longer a recognition of police aggression towards Blacks but is now primarily a Democratic political stratagem. And the cynical politics of AOC have ignited dangerous rhetoric that now makes both police and citizens unnecessarily fearful of each other. Police cannot police for fear of politically instigated retaliation, and people of color, citizens in need, are afraid to call the police because they now believe what is mostly false rhetoric about race and policing. BLM which began reasonably is now beginning to look like Democratic Pizzagate, except it is leading to far more deaths than Pizzagate.
The NYT has lost so much of its credibility at this point, I don't know how posting 'data' from the Opinion section of what has become a regressive rag is meant to be compelling.
You should probably look elsewhere for the data sourcing.
Yascha, you need to go have a Thanksgiving dinner or two with some middle/lower middle class families! I assure you the differences are not simply between the elites opinion leaders!! Glenn Loury is simply closer to the mark.
