This article perfectly illustrates the narrative battle of extremes gripping our country. In Trump's bombastic surface skimming style, he claims the election was stolen which turns off voters, as it should. Progressives honed the "election denier" narrative to such a degree that an honest evaluation of what did happen in 2020 is crushed and all who question are cast out of polite society as threats to democracy. As always the truth is in the middle and as of late, completely ignored.

The "election denier" narrative serves to dampen free speech and hide the serious shortcomings of the 2020 election. Those shortcomings and the subsequent lack of honest debate are actual threats to democracy. Trump's rants are equally unhelpful in communicating what actually happened. Supporters of both sides line up in battle, democracy suffers.

Actions in the courts before 2020 had a massive impact on the election. Covid was weaponized to effect long sought changes to election law. Mail in voting was pushed and occurred in many battlegrounds without identity verification. By the way voter ID is not racism. Judges decided voting policies when many state laws required it to be done by legislators. Private money from the likes of Zuckerberg funded privatization of election offices by partisans something that had never happened before. If you doubt the impact this had on the election, compare election results and cure ratios in neighboring counties with similar demographics with one county being run by private actors using Zuckerberg money and the other under normal election officers. There were inconsistent applications of election law favoring democrat candidates. Ballot harvesting clearly happened in certain battleground states. And we cannot leave out censorship by big tech who clearly tipped the balance in favor of Biden. It is becoming clear that bad actors within the government contributed to this censorship. This folks is an insane threat to democracy.

In summary, articles like this are an insult to the intelligence of the American people and only serve to widen the divide. The 2020 election was a complete mess. Let's be honest and critically evaluate.

Your assertions about the 2020 election being "a mess" are based on what hard evidence? Your cavalier use of "clearly" does not make it so. I do agree with your last line, but I don't think you do.

I would recommend reading Mollie Hemingway's "Rigged" which has hard evidence to support the assertions included above. The elections were a mess in states that made significant changes to election practices shortly before the election. Bureaucracy doesn't move that fast.

Legacy and social media censored information and tipped the election in favor of the Democrats. If you have not read the Twitter Files, I highly suggest doing so. Bari Weiss's and Matt Taibbi's supporting articles are also worthwhile. Both are on Substack. Did these actions hand the presidency to Biden? We will never know for certain but it was clear election interference. After you read it all, I think you will agree that the use of "clear" in this sentence is correct.

Am not exactly certain what your point is about the last line. I am guessing you mean I would not accept statements/facts contrary to my own opinion? My opinions are based on research and one thing I learned is that the talking point that the 2020 elections were "the most secure in history" is a fairy tale.

I have not read the Twitter Files but will on your recommendation. Every substantiated example of election meddling and fraudulent voting that I have seen (including several successful prosecutions) were by Republicans. Every one. So I find that even the suggestion of "tipping the election toward Biden" is laughable. But yes, I'll check out Taibbi's stuff. (Generally, I've not been impressed with the objectivity of some of his previous articles.)

No doubt Republicans have done bad things too. They are politicians after all!

If you feel like it sharing your opinion of the Twitter files, please do.

Missing the dripping irony here. Twittergate proves that the media has been putting thousands of thumbs on the political scale for Democrats. There has been more election denial from Democrats since AL Gore lost. The Jim Crow cry about Georgia is an example. Yes, Republican election deniers got slammed, but that result confirms their claims are valid. For Republicans to elect Democrats to the Senate given what the Democrats are doing and what is at stake... clearly they were influenced to vote against their own principles by the repeat of their media feeds.

Your belief is that R's can't withstand the bias in the media (people self select the media they want) and therefore were swung into voting for democrats? Do these people have no agency?

Seems like a disingenuous argument. Your argument is 1. whataboutism and 2. It's unlikely to be causal.

Pile up all the reasons people chose Ds over Rs in your mind. Give them all %s as to what was the most important. What % is the "media bias" cause? Then tell me your pie.

I reckon it was the independents that were swung by media bias and censorship, Trump hate and abortion. Voters who do not dig in beyond the talking points have little idea of what is really going on. If the talking point is a lie, ie Jim Crowe 2.0, they might be influenced.

The FBI's coordination with social media companies ahead of the 2020 presidential election, revealed in Elon Musk's "Twitter Files," is galvanizing long-held suspicions that the FBI ran defense for then-candidate Joe Biden as his links to Hunter Biden's potentially illegal business schemes emerged.

This justifies all of the Republican conspiracy theories about the election cheating. The Democrats have been supported by interference by proxy in ways that has corrupted the democratic election process. Those that votes against the Republican candidates claiming Democrat election malfeasance are either ignorant of the malfeasance or are otherwise better served personally by using some fake opposition to it.

Putting your own potential voters in a position where they have to choose between voting for people who are out to sabotage democracy and people who support policies they disagree with is not only a lousy thing to do to democracy, it's a lousy thing to do to them.

This article is pure gaslighting from the first word to the last. The widespread cheating that occurred in Maricopa County Arizona in 2020 was made even more brazen in 2022. Judges are currently bending over backwards to dismiss suits as quickly as possible in an attempt to sweep this massive fraud under the rug. When the truth finally comes out, people had better hold onto their hats.
