Your answer to the parent a "gay-acting" kid neglected to address a not-so-remote possibility: that identifying as gay isn't (just) about the avoidance of bullying, but that it may be part of a longer coming out process. Gay acceptance may have advanced in light years compared to when I was being bullied in school, but I still find it too incredulous to believe that a teenaged boy would pretend to be gay for this reason. There's surely more to this story.

Last sentence definitely hilarious, but I feel the ball got dropped here. While it's probably true that it's a vocal minority pushing the fat-is-healthy idea, the point is they *are* vocal, and they *do* persuade people. More importantly, many people will know someone like this in their family or friend group, who pushes this idea. To me the letter writer clearly needed to know a few good points to make, and how to make them, with someone like this. The letter writer wanted some completely incontestable data to cite. So the answer was not helpful, much as I enjoyed the last sentence.
